In Coming Weather Causing Cancellations

The Southwood Lady Knights vs Pioneer Panthers Girls JV / Varsity Basketball game, scheduled for this evening HAS BEEN CANCELLED.  High School Girls BB players should report to practice after school.

The Southwood Boys “C” Team contest @ Rochester HAS BEEN POSTPONED and will be played as part of the JV / Varsity contest on Friday, February 4, 2011 @ Rochester .

Lady Apaches 7th Finish 2nd In Maconaquah Tourney

The Wabash 7th grade girls basketball team finished 2nd in the Maconaquah tourney Saturday.

The Lady Apaches defeated Southwood in game one 29-20.

Kristin Cromer lead Wabash with 17 points. Sydni Mullett, Kierston Cole and Katie McCauley had 4 points each.

Wabash was defeated by RJ Basket in the championship 31-17.

Kristen Cromer had 7 points. Carli Henderson had 4 points. Angela Davis, Kierston Cole and Katie McCauley had 2 points each.

New Metro Babe Ruth Baseball League Forming

Boys ages 13-15 who are interested in playing in the new Metro Babe Ruth Baseball League may pick up a form in the athletic office on Mrs. Corn’s desk. The form must be picked up by Friday as the form should be turned in at the Honeywell Center Board Room sometime between 3-5pm on Saturday night. You must have a copy of your birth certificate when you attend the meeting.

Home games will be played at Northfield. The team will also play Babe Ruth teams in the vicinity of Wabash.  Please spread the word to others who may be interested.

Lady Apaches Cruise Past Whitko

The Wabash Lady Apaches used a big first half and then cruised past Whitko Saturday 66-47.

Wabash set the tone right away with their pressure defense and hot shooting to take a 22-9 lead after the first quarter and then out scored Whitko 19-5 in the second quarter to take a 41-14 lead in to the half.

Whitko our scored Wabash 33-25 in the second half, but the first half lead tells the story of where the game was headed when Wabash was clicking on all cylinders.

Leading Wabash wasa Kaleigh Hensley with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist and 5 steals. Kelsey Cromer had 15 points, 3 assist and 2 steals. Kyleigh Hampton had 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assist and 6 blocks. Gabi Nearing had 9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assist and 1 block. Marin Hill had 6 points, 3 rebounds and1 steal. Brittany Stone had 2 points and 1 assist. Lyndsie Thomas had 1 point, 3 rebounds, 3 assist and 2 steals.

The JV was defeated by Whitko 41-25.

Heather Miller had 11 points. Charlie Pardo 8 points. Katie Smith had 8 rebounds.

Lady Squires Hold Off Tippy Valley

The Manchester Lady Squire basketball team defeated Tippy Valley Saturday night 54-46. Manchester took the lead with a stronf fourth quarter and held on for the win. Kaylee Watson had a career high 20 points, connecting on five three pointers.

Manchester took a first quarter lead of 11-7 behind 5 points from Kaylee Watson and 4 points from Kayla Flack.

Valley came back and out scored Manchester 12-8 in the second quarter and the score was tied at 19 at the half. Autumn Brewer lead Manchester in the quarter scoring 6 points.

Valley carried the momentum going in to the locker room and still controlled the tempo in the third quarter out scoring Manchester 14-13. Watson connected on two three pointers in the quarter and Flack scored 4 points to keep Manchester close.

The Lady Squires have the ability to score in bunches and that’s just what they did in the fourth quarter, lighting it up scoring 24 points and holding Valley to 13. Watson hit her fourth and fifth three pointer in the quarter. Meika Kennedy added a three and Flack and Erika Milam went to work inside, coming from behind to seal the victory.

Leading Manchester was Kaylee Watson with a career high 20 points, 1 rebound and 2 steals. Kayla Flack had 11 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assist. Hannah Little had 6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assist and 3 steals. Autumn Brewer had 6 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal. Meika Kennedy had 5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assist and 5 steals. Kalene Freshour had 4 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Erika Milam had 4 points and 2 rebounds.

Lady Norse Stumble Against Rochester

The Northfield Lady Norse basketball team traveled to Rochester Saturday afternoon and the host Zebra’s handed Northfield a 54-33 loss.

It was the tale of two halves for Northfield as they trailed just 23-21 at the half. Rochester came out in the second half and out scored Northfield 31-12 n the second half to secure the win.

Leading Northfield was Sidney Reed with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Sydney Eltzroth had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Katie Stephan had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Michelle Hendricks had 4 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. Alyssa Richter had 2 points and 1 rebound. Ashley Frehse had 2 points and 1 assist. Morgan Peas had 1 point, 3 rebounds, 5 assist and 2 steals.

Manchester Boys Fall To Tri-Central

The Manchester boys basketball team fell at home against Tri-Central Saturday 69-62.

The Squires held a 11-6  lead after one quarter before the Tri-Central offense kicked in to gear in the second quarter, out scoring Manchester 17-11 to lead the Squires 23-22 at the half.

Tri-Central, behind Brock Tew found the bucket on a regular basis in the third quarter, out scoring Manchester 21-13 to lead 44-35. The fourth quarter was up and down the floor with Manchester trying to make up the deficit, scoring 27 points in the quarter, but giving up 25 points.

Leading Manchester was Austin Flack with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assist and 4 steals. Scott Baker had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Aric Howard had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal. Caleb Thomas had 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks. Logan Brunn had 5 points, 8 rebounds and 1 steal. Derek Self had 5 points.
