Two Slow Starts Cost Lady Knights

The Southwood Lady Knights traveled to Madison-Grant Monday to take on the 3-1 Argylls, falling to the host 51-44.

The Knights fell behind by 14 in the first half before closing the lead to one point in the second quarter, but trailed by 6 at halftime. The Knights started the third quarter slowly as Madison-Grant built their lead to 16 points. The Knights again mounted a comeback closing the lead to 4 points but Madison-Grant made free throws down the stretch for earn the victory.

The Knights shot extremely poor to seal their defeat as they shot 9.1% from the field which included 5.4% from three. Conversely, the Knights were 17-20 from the free throw line and out rebounded the taller Argylls by one. Of note, the Knights garnered 20 offensive rebounds.

Pershing played her best game of the year and Simpson and Dawes played a tremendous defensive game

The JV lady Knights picked up win number 2 on the season with a victory over Madison Grant 37-31.

The Kinghts were trailing by 6 late in the third quarter when the momentum shifted with good defense led by Jessica Brubaker, Olivia Adams and Sydney Helfin. The Knigyts held the Argylls to 2 points the rest of the game.

Makayla Bechtold 10 points, Helfin 7, Makenna Pace 6, Kayla Mays 5 and 11 rebounds, Erin Lehner 3, Gouveia, Hunt and Simpson rounded out the scoring each with a bucket.
