Manchester Tennis Sweeps Whitko

The Manchester Tennis Team participated in a non-conference contest on Thursday night against the Whitko Wildcats. The conference match up last week, saw the Squires take down the Cats 5-0 and tonight turned out to be the same, but much closer matches. “This annually scheduled second contest versus Whitko always provides an opportunity to see some guys at some different spots. We moved some singles guys to doubles and some doubles guys to singles. I was very pleased with the way our team handled the change”, said Head Coach Eric Screeton. The Squires did adapt quite well as they swept the evening. Leading the way for the Squires with victories were #1 Singles Spence Trick 6-0, 6-0,
#2 Singles Logan Parrett 6-1, 6-0, #3 Singles Grant Strobel 6-2, 6-0, #1 Doubles Luke Donathan and Parker Wagoner 6-0, 6-0, and #2 Doubles Uria Hein and Drake Hatfield 6-1, 6-0. The JV Squires, Kyle Shepherd, Quinn Martin, and Kam Lester, swept the evening as well without dropping a game. “Now it is the time to start playing some of our best tennis. We have a tough stretch next week and we need to clicking before sectionals,” added Screeton. Manchester will be back in action Monday, September 18th at Columbia City starting at 5:00.
