Manchester Tennis Wins Third Straight

The Manchester Squires Tennis Team stretched its win streak to 3 straight matches with a 4-1 victory over Triton. On a beautiful night for tennis in North Manchester, Indiana, the Squires picked up another victory from solid play across the board. The singles matches went quickly for the Squires as #1 Luke Donathan, #2 Spence Trick, and #3 Kyle Shepherd won in convincing fashion. “Our singles play was outstanding tonight. I can’t say enough about the turn-around season Luke Donathan is having at #1 Singles. Not to mention how thrilled I am to see Spence Trick and Kyle Shepherd winning
their fair share of matches.” said Head Coach Eric Screeton. As for the doubles matches, they were much more competitive as #1 Doubles Logan Parrett and Parker Wagoner won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. “It was a great bounce back match for Logan and Parker. They have led in so many sets this year and it was nice to see them close them out with solid play tonight,” added Screeton. The #2 Doubles match turned out to be the crowd favorite of the evening as both teams split sets and headed to the super tiebreaker for the match. The #2 Doubles team of Kam Lester and Quinn Martin would fight off multiple match points and actually had one match point on their own serve, but it Heckaman and Bules with the comeback to take the tiebreaker 12-10 in dramatic fashion. “I am really proud of two doubles and all of our guys tonight. We are finishing the season strong and moving forward with some great momentum into sectionals,” concluded Screeton. The Squires will be back in action Thursday night, 9/21, versus Tippecanoe Valley in North Manchester @ 5:00.
