DELAWARE, OHIO – Senior Emily Clark (Peru, Ind.) guided a strong weekend effort by Manchester University at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Corbiere-Merion Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18 and 19.
Clark was among five top-five finishes with each time being a new school record. She was third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.7) and fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.48). The senior also joined freshmen Bailey Conder (Greenwood, Ind.), Shelby Kell (Charlottesville, Ind.) and Katie Blystone (Carmel, Ind.) for a fifth-place ending in the 800-yard freestyle relay (8:48.1) and Blystone, Kell and junior Jamie McBride (Elkhart, Ind.) to wind up fourth in the 400-yard medley (4:26.57). McBride, fellow junior Mikki Goetz (Highland, Ind.), Kell and Conder were just off a similar place in the 200-yard freestyle event, taking sixth in 1:52.86.
Coach Mike Kroll’s squad produced 374 points, good for fourth in the seven-team field. The remaining weekend record-breaker honors went to Kell (500-yard freestyle – 5:45.74/200-yard freestyle – 2:07.26/50-yard freestyle split leading off 200-yard freestyle relay – 26.8 seconds); Blystone (50-yard butterfly split of 200-yard medley relay – 27.46 seconds)/200-yard individual medley – 2:25.97); Clark (100-yard backstroke leading off 400-yard medley relay – 1:04.23/100-yard individual medley – 1:06.42); the 400-yard medley relay of Clark, McBride, Blystone and Kell – 4:26.57; and the 200-yard freestyle relay of Kell, Goetz, Conder and McBride – 1:52.86.
Manchester University closes its fall schedule Saturday, Dec. 2, joining the field at Illinois Tech’s Ted Erikson Invitational.
