The Northfield girls basketball team played host to Maconaquah Tuesday in a TRC contest, defeating the Braves 68-21.
The Lady Norse would control every phase of the game from the opening tip, taking a quick 3-0 lead on an Ariel Dale three before Kelsie Thomson hit a bucket that started an 8-0 run to put the Norse up 11-2. Maconaquah would cut the Norse lead to 12-6 before Thomson hit again, this time starting a 9-0 run. During the run Dale would convert a three point play while Ally Keaffaber added a bucket. Northfield led 21-6 after the first quarter.
The Norse would trade buckets with the Braves early in the second and led 26-13 before ending the quarter on a 15-0 run. Abbey Ross and Keaffaber would have two buckets each while Thomson, Kyra Kennedy and Addi Baker added buckets. Northfield led 40-13 at the half.
The third quarter would be similar to the second as the two teams traded points. The Norse led 45-19 when yet another run would happen. Dale would hit a deuce that started a 9-0 run to end the quarter with Northfield leading 54-19. Thomson had 8 points in the quarter.
Abbey Ross would get the first bucket of the fourth quarter that the Braves matched before the final run came. Addi Baker would score three straight times with Kennedy and Maddie Clark adding buckets as the Norse scored 12 straight for the 68-21 final.
Thomson 19 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals. Ariel Dale 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals. Addi Baker 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 4 steals. Abbey Ross added 6 points, Ally Keaffaber 7, Maddie Clark 2, Kyra Kennedy 5.
The Northfield junior varsity defeated Maconaquah 44-5.
Kearston Stout led with 14 points followed by Kiera Kennedy with 12 points, and Kenzie Baer with 8 points.
