The Southwood Lady Hoopsters finished up a tough week at Rochester Saturday evening, falling to the Zebras 61-30.
The LadyZebras posed a difficult match-up for Southwood, with their height advantage, and used that strength and size right from the tip-off and often throughout the entire game. Rochester’s posts were able to score 41 points from inside the paint or from the free throw line, from their base offense and after several offensive rebounds. Another disparaging stat that contributed to the Knights defeat was from the charity stripe. Southwood struggled at 6-18 while the LadyZebras went 22-30.
The LadyKnights did have some positives to take away from the game; only 1 turnover against the full court press is by far the best of the season. And total turnovers were a season-low as well. Unfortunately, the Knights shot only 22% from the floor and with the height disadvantage were only able to grab 2 offensive rebounds, which has been a strength for the Lady Hoopsters.
