For three quarters Tuesday the game was in doubt between the Southwood and Wabash girls before the Apaches rode a 14-0 run to start the fourth quarter and defeat the Knights 40-20.
The Lady Apaches would start the game with a 10-0 start. Hope Unger got things going with a bucket and was followed by Tabitha Wagner Alivia Short and Bailey Yoakum. The first points for the Knights came with 25.6 left when Makenna Pace hit two free throws as Wabash led 10-2 after one.
Unger would hit a three to start the second quarter which also ignited an 8-0 run. Carmen Higdon would hit a free throw, followed by two Yoakum free throws and a bucket to give Wabash an 18-2 lead. The Knights first bucket of the game came right before the buzzer when Pace launched a three pointer and found nothing but net. Wabash led 18-5 at the half.
Higdon would make it 20-5 to start the third quarter before the Knights cut the Wabash lead to 20-10 on two Alissa Pershing free throws and a three from Pace. Ar 22-10 after two Yoakum free throws Erin Lehner would hit a three, followed by a three point play from Morgan Farr to slice the Apaches lead to 22-16 before Wagner ended the quarter with a bucket and Wabash leading 24-16.
Wabash would erase any hope for a comeback to start the fourth. Wagner would score off an offensive rebound that kick started a 14-0 run by the Apaches. Wagner would score two more times with Abby Vinopal chipping in a bucket to lead 38-16. Lehner would stop the run with a scoop lay up before the Apaches went on for the 40-20 win.
