WABASH AMERICAN LEGION POST 15, WILL BE HOSTING THEIR 3RD ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT ON SATURDAY
AUG. 20, AT 1PM. THIS EVENT IS BEING HELD AT THE HONEYWELL GOLF COURSE.
THIS FUND RAISER IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. COST $ 50.00, PER PLAYER. HOLE SPONSORS ARE ALSO NEEDED.
TOURNAMENT WILL BE A SCRAMBLE FORMAT, WITH CASH PRIZES FOR 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD. A MEAL WILL BE FURNISHED AT THE POST, LIVE ENTERTAINMENT WITH EVOLUTION, FEATURING PAUL KING JR.

Dale Fares Well At Indiana Boys State
Southwood graduate Devin Dale played in the Indiana Boys State Jr Golf Championship this week on Kampen Golf Course at Purdue University. Dale, the second best average scorer in Southwood history started the week with 110 players in stroke play. The field was narrowed down to 64 players for match play. Dale defeated David Hildebrand of Carmel to reach the final 32.
Dale then defeated Landon Smith of Evansville to make it to the final 16 players. Thursday Devin drew Jordan Drook of Marion and was defeated by one stroke.
Dale will be attending Huntington University this fall to play golf. Devin’s parents are Gary & JoDee Dale.
Wabash 14′s Fall In Game One Of Pool Play

Wabash 13′s Stumble In 2nd Round Of State
The Wabash 13 year old all star stumbled in the 2nd round of pool play in the state tournament Thursday, losing a lead and falling to Edwardburg 15-12.
Wabash jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning and a 2 rbi triple by Drake Richter. Edwardsburg rallied back for 3 runs in the 2nd and 4 more in the 3rd to take a 7-2 lead before Wabash exploded for 8 runs in the 4th to take the lead 10-7. The 8 run inning was capped off by an inside the park home run by Jarod Short.
Edwardsburg put one on the board in the 5th and Wabash answered with 2 runs of their own to lead 12-8 with 2 innings to go.
The wheels fell off the Wabash defense in the last two innings, giving up 4 runs in the 6th and 3 more in the 7th for the 15-12 final.
Wabash plays Georgetown Friday night at 8:00 at city park for their last pool play game.
13 Year Old State Gets Underway
The 13 year old state finals got underway Wednesday at City Park. There are eight teams in the tourney with each playing three games in pool play in two different pools. The top two teams in each pool advance to this weekends championship.
Mayor Bob Vanlandingham welcomed the state players and families to Wabash and then threw out the first pitch.
In game one Jeffersonville defeated Valpo 23-1. In game two Goshen defeated Wabash 10-0. Game three was Seymour downing Franklin Township 13-1. In the night cap Edwardsburg defeated Georgetown 14-4.
Play gets back underway Thursday with Wabash playing Edwardsburg at Wabash High School at 2:00.
Wabash 12′s Fall To Dyer
The Wabash 12 year old all star team fell 7-6 to Dyer in the quarter finals of the state tournament Tuesday night. More details when available.
Wabash 13′s To Host State Starting Wednesday
The Wabash 13, 14 and 15 year old all star teams start their quest for a state tournament championship this week.
The 13 year old team is hosting the state starting Wednesday at the city park and Wabash high school diamonds. Wabash plays their first pool game at city park at 2:00 vs Goshen. Wabash then plays Edwardsburg at 2:00 Thursday and Ft Wayne Goergetown Friday at 8:00. The 13 year old team is coached by Shawn Floor.
The 14 year olds play at Middlebury. Their first game is Thursday at 1:30, then Friday at 4:30 and Saturday at 5:30. The 14 year olds are coached by Steve Furnas.
The 15 year olds play at Ft Wayne. Their first game is Wednesday at 8:00. They then play Thursday at 5:30 and Friday at 8:00. The 15 year old team is coached by Guy Provance.

Etna Acres senior and mens leagues played Tuesday. The senior scramble had 71 players.
