The Wabash tennis team was the only event going tonight as they traveled to Eastern and played indoors, defeating the host Comets 3-2.

SPARTANS TAKE THIRD GAME OF SERIES IN 7-6 WIN OVER ROSE-HULMAN
Manchester 7 – Rose-Hulman 6
Manchester’s baseball team picked up a 7-6 win over Rose-Hulman on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep by the league leading Engineers.
Rose-Hulman broke a 1-1 tied by scoring four runs in the top of the fifth inning to go ahead 5-1, but Manchester bounced back in the bottom of the inning to score five runs and take a 6-5 lead and scored the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth as Trevor Kimm drove in Jordan Nieman to seal the 7-6 win.
Bryce Murphy took the win, throwing 2.2 innings of relief with a strikeout to his stats, while Dylan Padgett got the start, throwing 4.2 innings with five earned runs allowed and a strikeout. Nieman and Kyle Norris went 3-5 each, with Norris scoring two runs and driving in two more, with Norris scoring a pair of runs. Kimm went 2-4 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Manchester improves to 20-17 on the year, 12-10 in the HCAC. The Spartans will face Transylvania in the final conference series of the year on Saturday, as both teams battle for the fourth and final spot in the conference tournament.

HOMMEMA SETS NEW RECORD IN DOUBLES AS MANCHESTER SPLITS WITH HANOVER, WILL ADVANCE TO HCAC TOURNAMENT
Manchester’s softball team clinched the fourth and final playoff spot in next week’s HCAC Tournament splitting with Hanover in conference play with a 3-2 win and a 2-1 loss.
In game one, Maureen Lund picked up her 12th win of the year and struck out six batters as Manchester defeated Hanover 3-2. Amy Hommema was 1-2 with a run scored, and connected on her 17th double of the year to set a new school record. Kendall Jefferies was 1-3 with an RBI, while Emily Willmann went 1-3 with a an RBI and a run scored, connecting on a triple.
In game two, Hanover scored a run in the first and second innings to take the 2-1 win over MC. Ashlea Nash was the losing pitcher, striking out three batters. Kylie Planck was 2-4 with a run scored and had a triple, while Willmann, Kayla Yates and Danielle Howell went 1-3.
Manchester improves to 19-21 on the year, 8-8 in the conference. They will face regular season champs Anderson in the first round of the HCAC Tournament starting Friday at noon from Anderson University.

MC FALLS TO ROSE-HULMAN 7-6 AND 6-3
Manchester dropped a pair of conference contests to league leading Rose-Hulman in doubleheader action 7-6 and 6-3 on Saturday.
in the 7-6 loss, Justin Scott picked up the loss. Corey Marchant was 3-4 on the day, with two RBIs and a run scored. Bryce Murphy went 2-3 with a run and an RBI, while Brad Murphy went 1-3 with two runs scored.
Rose-Hulman jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning to take the 6-3 win in game two. Kyle Konarski took the loss, throwing five innings with six strikeouts. Brian Tarnowski added four strikeouts in four innings of relief. Brad Murphy went 2-4 with two runs scored, while Kyle Norris went 2-4 with three RBIs.
Manchester drops to 19-17 on the season, 11-10 on the year in conference play. They will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday.
MEN’S GOLF
MC IN EIGHTH AFTER FIRST ROUND OF HCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manchester’s men’s golf team currently rests in eighth place at the HCAC Championships following the first round of action.
The Spartans are just four strokes out of fifth place with a 324 team score, and are 31 strokes behind leader Transylvania. DK DeLong leads the way for Manchester with a 79 and is tied for 17th, while Patrick McNinch and Tyler Shearer are tied for 28th with an 81, and Brecken Kennedy is in 32nd with an 83. Golf action resumes tomorrow from host Hanover College and will come to Manchester College next weekend for the third and fourth rounds next week.

Lady Norse Hold Off Maconaquah
The Northfield softball team raised their season record to 6-7 Friday with an eight inning win over Maconaquah.
After holding the Braves in the first the Norse went to work right away. Caitlin Eltzroth led off with a walk. After a stolen base by Eltzroth, Katelyn Shafer drove in the first run with a single. Arie Kennedy then singled and both runners advanced when Bethany Azbell was hit by a pitch. The next pitch was a passed ball that scored a run and on the overthrow to home Kennedy hustled in from second to score the third run of the inning, 3-0.
Maconaquah would score two runs in the top of the fifth on a walk, a single and two Norse errors. In the bottom of the inning Emily Shafer led off with a single and was followed by a Katelyn Shafer walk. Kennedy reached on an error by the third baseman which scored the Norse fourth run, 4-2.
Maconaquah manufactured a run in the sixth to make it 4-3.
A double and a single for the Braves in the top of the seventh knotted the score at 4, with the go ahead run being thrown out at second. The Norse drew two walks in the bottom of the inning, but couldn’t hit pay dirt to end the game.
Emily Shafer came in to pitch the eighth inning for starting pitcher Katelyn Shafer and retired the Maconaquah side in order. Bethany Azbell started the eighth with a single and was followed with a single from Callie Monce. Kayla Unger drew a walk to load the bases with no outs for Jessica Beeks. Beeks hit in to a fielders choice with a force at home. Caitlin Eltzroth then flew out to left filed, but there was no tag up to try and score. With two outs Amber Parker drew a walk that forced in the winning run for the Norse, 5-4.

Apache Golf Tops Southern Wells
In blustery conditions, the Wabash boys golf team defeated visiting Southern Wells 191-228 on Thursday at Honeywell Golf Course. Sophomore Jordan Blair again led the way for the Apaches with a 44. Jack Leland followed with a 47. Sophomore Parker Harner carded a 49 and Justin Middleton fired a 51 to round out the scoring for the team. The Apache boys varsity golf team is in action this weekend as they travel to Chestnut Hills Golf Course to take part in the Fort Wayne Canterbury Invite. Tee times start at 11:15am.
