Wabash 12’s Fall Short In Three Hour Marathon

The Wabash 12 year old all star team took on tournament favorite New Albany for the state championship Monday, going toe to toe with the favorites before falling 26-21.

In a three hour game Wabash jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings before New Albany found the long ball. New Albany would hit 8 home runs in the game with Wabash fighting back each time to stay in reach before running out of gas.

12 Year Olds One Game Away

The Wabash 12 year old all star team is one game away from a state championship. After going 2-1 in pool play Wednesday through Friday, Wabash began single elimination play by defeating Bedford 8-2 Saturday before topping Terra Haute North 9-7 Sunday to earn a rematch with New Albany Monday for the title.

On Saturday Wabash was leading Bedford 4-2 heading to the fourth when they plated 4 runs to grab the 8-2 lead. Andrew Dillon led off the inning with a single and advanced clear to third an an outfield error before a Dillon Tomlinson single made in 5-2. Nathan Lehner would then reach on an error. With one out Cole Winer laced a triple that scored both runners for a 7-2 lead. Drayson Pace would then fly out with Winer tagging for the 8th run.

Sunday in the semi final against Terra Haute, Wabash scored a run in the first when Tomlinson led off the game with a double before a Lehner walk. Tomlinson would then steal third before a Mo Lloyd fly to center scored Tomlinson for a 1-0 lead. Wabash would score another lone run in the third when Andrew Dillon led off the inning with a home run to center to grab a 2-0 lead.

Wabash would open things up in the fourth when Pace led off with a double and was followed by a one out Isaiah Sutton long ball over the right field fence for a 4-0 lead. Kolton Floor would follow with a single before Dillon was hit by a pitch. Tomlinson would then double home Floor and Dillon to make it 6-0. Lehner would then reach on an error that scored Tomlinson as Wabash lead grew to 7-0.

Terra Haute, known for their offensive power came to life in the fifth, as they collected six hit with three being home runs as they cut the Wabash lead to 7-6. Wabash would answer in the top of the 6th when Tomlinson led off with a double and was followed by Lehner reaching on an error at first with Tomlinson racing home to make it 8-6. With two outs Pace would single home Lehner for a 9-6 lead.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth Terra Haute would score a run before Tomlinson forced a pop up to short to end the game with Wabash advancing to the state championship game Monday against New Albany.

Wabash 12’s To Final Eight

The Wabash 12 year old little league team has finished pool play in the state tournament being played at the Field of Dreams, going 2-1 to finish as the number 3 seed and qualify for the single elimination round starting Saturday. The field is down to eight teams.

After spending countless hours at the diamonds, here is a little catching up on the team.

In game one Wabash fell to two time defending state champion New Albany 14-1.

Wabash will now play Bedford at 5:00 Saturday with the winner moving on to the final four

Wabash 16U Brings Home State Title

The Wabash 16U All Stars needed one more win for a state title and got it Monday with a 4-2 win over Eagledale out of Indianapolis. A total team effort all week led to championship. Wabash will travel this weekend to Peru Illinois for the Central Region Tournament where 9 state champions will play and the winner of Central Region will advance to the World Series.
Wabash is in pool A and play Missouri this Saturday at 2:30pm Wabash will then play Iowa at 2pm on Sunday.

The Wabash 12 all stars pounded out 18 hits while holding Delta to just three as they won the district 9 tournament.

11 Year Old District Suspended By Storms

The Wabash 11 year old all star team fell behind early in the district 9 championship against Delta Monday before coming back to force extra innings when the rain started and the city tornado sirens were activated on a stormy night, suspending the game until Tuesday. The game will pick up in the top of the 7th.

The 11 year old game continued Tuesday with Wabash going scoreless in the top of the seventh before giving up a run in the bottom of the inning, falling to Delta.

Wabash Senior League Headed To State

After splitting a double header with St Joe Saturday the Wabash senior league team played host the rubber match Sunday, defeating St Joe 6-2 to earn a spot in the state tournament starting Thursday.

Wabash will play 3 games in pool play, Thursday at 7:00, Friday at 10:00 and Saturday at 4:00. Their performance in pool play will dictate if they make the final four. The semi finals are Sunday with the championship Monday. The state tournament will be held in Anderson.
