The Oak Hill Golden Eagles ruined Southwood’s first home game of the year, defeating the Knights 42-27. It was a game of runs, the first being Oak Hill. The Golden Eagles scored the first two touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead. Larry Chain had a 39yd run to end the first quarter and put the Knights in scoring position.
The second quarter was Southwood’s turn. Hobbs hit Dickey for a touchdown and the Knights cut the lead to 14-7. On the next defensive sequence Chain picked up an Oak Hill fumble and returned it 52yds for a touchdown. The extra point failed and the Knights trailed 14-13. With 6:24 remaining in the half Chain broke up the middle and scampered 80yds for a touchdown. Adams ran in the two point conversion and the Knights led 21-14. Oak Hill managed to score right before the half to draw within one 21-20.
The third quarter went scoreless as both defenses tightend.
The forth quarter belonged to the Eagles, scoring three touchdowns. Southwood’s lone forth quarter score come on a Hobbs quarterback sneak.
The Knights had 337 total yards. Chain had 141yds rushing. Adams had 77yds rushing. Hobbs had 122yds passing.
