Metro Rage Teams Blank Woodlan

The Metro Rage Soccer Club hosted Woodlan High School from the Fort Wayne area this past Saturday at the Morrett Sports Complex. In the first game of the day, the boy’s team took command of the game with multiple shots on goal in the first five minutes. Jordan Boyer (So SHS) opened the scoring with a header off of a deflected corner kick. Grant Keaffaber (Jr SHS) scored in a goal in the same manner after he poked home a shot as a result of multiple deflected shots at the Woodlan goalkeeper. The Rage had a total of 17 shots on goal the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Rage scored a third time in the middle of the second half when Dustin Echard (Jr NHS) dribbled through the defense and laid off a ball to Houston Miller (Jr NHS) who found the back of the net. The Rage scoring was closed out by John Yarnelle (Sr SHS) who converted a penalty kick after Justin Panarello (Sr WHS) was fouled in the box. The Rage defensive back line controlled the game in such a manner that it only required Goalkeeper Eric Foltz (Jr NHS) and backup goalie Chad Glasscock (Jr NHS) to stop one shot apiece.

The Metro Rage Boys are now 3-0 and enjoy a short break before returning to action on September 9th against the Fort Wayne Fusion in one of the boy’s last home games of the year.

The Lady Rage continued their winning ways by defeating Woodlan 5-0. Due to illness and injuries, the Lady Rage played with only 14 players on a hot and humid day. Brittany Hobson (Sr SHS) opened the scoring for the ladies team and later added a second goal. Cassidy Sausaman (Jr NHS) scored on an assist from Hobson and later added an unassisted goal in the second half. Shiloh Wilson (Sr SHS) closed out the scoring by bending a corner kick inside the near post to give the ladies a 5-0 win.

The defensive backline of Alyssa Richter (So NHS), Rachel Coe (Sr NHS), Caroline Siler (So SHS) and Tyler Wright (Sr SHS) made goalkeeper Hannah Fadil’s (Jr SHS) easy as she only had to make one save each half. The lady Rage also enjoy an extended break as their next opponent is Oak Hill on September 7th
