The Southwood boys basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Huntington Friday night 51-48.
The Knights controlled the game for three quarters leading 15-11 after one, 27-19 at the half and 43-39 after three. Huntington out scored the Knights 12-5 in the final stanza for the win.
Coach John Burrus was called for a technical foul in the first quarter after a controversial third charging foul was called on Southwood in the first four minutes of the game.
Mike Cook lead the Knights with 28 points. Connor Hobbs and Dalton Gentry had 6 points each. Collin Huston had 5 points and Levi Winget had 3 points.
Southwood shot 31% from the field, hitting 4 three pointers. The Knights hit 18 of 25 free throws for 72%. Southwood out rebounded Huntington 35-25 and committed 12 turn overs.
The Southwood JV was defeated 31-27 by Huntington.
Corey Phillipy and Grant Keaffaber lead the Knights with 9 points each. Shane Smith had 7 points and Jackson Blair had 2 points.
