The Manchester Lady Squires used their depth once more with eight different players scoring to defeat Northfield Saturday night 42-27.
Both teams struggled to get it going as neither scored in the first two minutes of the game. Manchester’s Kayla Flack finally broke the ice with a bucket which was quickly answered by Northfield with three of their own points and Northfield lead 3-2. Manchester would then go on an 8-0 run to lead 10-3 after the first quarter. The Squires had four different players score in the quarter. Sydney Eltzroth had Northfield’s only bucket.
The scoring picked up in the second quarter with Manchester out scoring Northfield 13-9 to take a 23-12 half time lead. Manchester had five different players score in the quarter lead by Autumn Brewer with 6 points. Northfield was lead by Sidney Reed with 4 points.
The third quarter was all Manchester, holding Northfield scoreless and scoring 12 points of their own. Flack had 7 of Manchester’s 12 points in the quarter. Manchester lead 35-12 after 3.
Northfield finally found a spark in the fourth quarter, which often happens with a young team out scoring Manchester 15-7. This time the Norse had four different players score. Reed had five in the quarter, Eltzroth and Morgan Peas four each and Katie Stephan two. Erica Milam was Manchester leading scorer in the quarter with three points.
Manchester was lead by Kayla Flack with 12 points. Autumn Brewer had 8 points, Malyssa Bedke 6 points, Lindsey Budnik 5 points, Hanna Schmidt 4 points, Erika Milam 3 points and Meika Kennedy and Kaylee Watson with 2 points each.
Northfield was lead by Sidney Reed with 10 points, Sydney Eltzroth 9 points, Morgan Peas and Katie Stephan with 4 points each.
