The Manchester College women’s basketball team picked up an 85-74 conference win at Defiance on Wednesday. Manchester and Defiance went into the half tied 33-33, as MC used 7-10 shooting from behind the three-point line to stay in the game, and used 48 percent shooting in the second half to take the 11-point win, 85-74.

Former Northfield player Melissa Eltzroth was 7-11 from the floor and 5-8 from three-point territory to score a game high 23 points. She added three assists and three steals for the Spartans. Ashley Poe added 20 points and six rebounds, with five assists and a pair of steals. Brittani Bush added 15 points after hitting all five three-point attempts, Kelsey DeMott added 10 points and five rebounds, while Becki Lowden controlled the loose balls with 13 rebounds and four steals on the night.

Manchester improves to 2-5 on the year, 2-1 in the HCAC. They host Mount St. Joseph on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. Fans are encouraged to support the SAAC organization by donating a pair of gently used shoes for free admission to the game to help the Soles for Souls shoe drive.
