Wabash and Manchester will meet in the girls varsity final as Wabash defeated Southwood 47-30 and Manchester defeated Northfield 54-34.
In the first game of the afternoon Wabash was riding a nine game winning streak and Southwood had won three of their last four.
Wabash started off quick with a Kaleigh Hensley steal for a bucket, followed by a Southwood Abby Harness free throw to make it 2-1. At that point Wabash went on a 13-0 run with five different players scoring . Harness stopped the run with a bucket with two seconds left in the quarter to make it 15-3.
Wabash out scored Southwood 16-6 in the second quarter, making the half time score 31-9. Hensley, Lindsey Thomas and Kyleigh Hampton scored for Wabash. Mollie Harnish, Sarah White and Harness scored the Southwood points.
Southwood made some adjustments at the half, out scoring Wabash 21-16 in the second half. The Lady Knights had five players score in the half, but ran out of time for a come back.
Kaleigh Hensley lead Wabash with 28 points. Kelsey Cromer had 7, Kyleigh Hampton 6, Lindsie Thomas 4 and Marin Hill 2. Southwood was lead by Abby Harness with 9 points. Sarah White had 8, Mollie Harnish 6, Amy Bowman 4 and Ana Marie Farlow 3
In the second game of the afternoon it was Manchester and Northfield. The Lady Norse were looking to revenge an earlier loss to Manchester. The Lady Squires once again used their depth to defeat Northfield 54-34.
The game started out all Manchester, scoring the first nine points of the game. Northfield did not get their first points until 15 seconds to go in the quarter when Sydney Eltzroth canned a three pointer. Manchester’s Kaylee Watson answered Eltzroth’s three with one of her own right before the buzzer. Manchester lead 12-3 after one.
The Lady Squires would out score Northfield 14-7 in the second quarter to take a 26-10 lead in to the half. Manchester had five players score in the quarter. Northfield was lead by Michelle Hendricks with 4.
In the third quarter Manchester would out score Northfield 15-6. Again the Lady Squires would show their balance with five players scoring. Autumn Brewer would lead the pack with 6 points. Sidney Reed lead Northfield with 4 points. Manchester lead 41-16 after three.
The Northfield offense would finally come to life in the fourth quarter, out scoring Manchester 18-13. Katie Stephan would lead six playersscoring for Northfield. Manchester was lead by Kayla Flack with 8.
Manchester was lead by Kayla Flack with 18 points. Autumn Brewer had 10, Kalene Freshour 6, Bekah Brunn and Lindsey Budnik with 5, Hannah Little with 4 and Kaylee Watson and Erika Milam with 3 each.
Northfield was lead by Sidney Reed with 10 points. Sydney Eltzroth had 7, Katie Stephan and Michelle Hendricks with 4, Morgan Peas with 3, while Alyssa Richter, Ashley Frehse and Shannon Brown added 2 points each.
