The Wabash Lady Apache JV basketball team had a battle on their hands with Southwood, but squeaked out a third straight Wabash County basketball championship, defeating the Lady Knights 26-22.
The game was close the entire time with Southwood leading 10-6 after the first quarter. Wabash battled their way back to take the lead midway through the second quarter, but Southwood was up for the fight, playing even with Wabash to a 14-14 tie at the half.
The two teams battled back and fourth in the third quarter with the lead changing four times. Wabash scored the last three points of the quarter to go up 20-18 heading in to the final stanza. Southwood would tie the score midway through the quarter, but Wabash held off the Lady Knights for a 26-22 win.
Audra Watkins lead Wabash with 10 points. Charlie Pardo had 5, Katelyn Vogel 4, Haley Shrider, Jaclyn Lewis and Katie Smith with 2 each.
Emily Murphy lead Southwood with 10 points. Lexi Brickner had 4. Jenny Bentley had 3 and Hannah Fadil 2.
The girls JV consolation game was won by Manchester. The Lady Squires defeated Northfield 20-17. No stats were available.
