It was a cold night out side and the shooting was cold inside as the Manchester Lady Squires edged Central Noble 35-28. Cold shooting and heavy pressure continued over from the JV game as both teams had a hard time finding the bucket.
The game started out slow as far as scoring goes as neither team scored for the first two minutes of the game. Things finally got going with each team full court pressing the other and 23 points were scored the last 5 1/2 minutes. Central Noble lead 12-11 after one. Manchester had six different players score in the quarter with five of them having 2 points each.
The second quarter would go to the Squires 10-5. Manchester’s pressure forced a ten second call and didn’t let Central Noble get the ball past the three point arch several times. Manchester had just three field goals in the quarter and were lead by Kayla Flack with 3 points. The Lady Squires lead 21-17 at the half.
Manchester could only put 8 points on the board in the third quarter, but the defense again rose to the occasion holding Central Noble to just 4 points. Kayla Flack and Hannah Little scored 4 points each in the quarter.
Central Noble would actually out score Manchester in the fourth quarter 7-6. Again it was the defense that won the game for Manchester holding a very aggressive and good shooting team to 28 points.
Kayla Flack lead Manchester with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Hannah Little had 7 points, 10 rebounds and 1 steal. Kalene Freshour had 6 points and 3 rebounds. Erika Milam had 4 points and 4 assist. Malyssa Bedke, Lindsie Budnik and Autumn Brewer had 2 points each. Bedke added 2 steals. Meika Kennedy had 1 point, 2 assist and 5 steals. Kaylee Watson had 1 point and 3 steals.
