Northfield Girls Pick Up Win Over Bluffton

The Northfield girls basketball team was coming out of the county tourney and in to the new year looking for a new start. The new start was a good one as they defeated Bluffton 46-39. It was a cold shooting night inside the arch as the Lady Norse only shot 23% from 2 point range, but Sydney Eltzroth went 3 for 3 behind the arch and team defense lead the Norse.

Northfield trailed 16-9 after the end of the first quarter, but came back blazing in the second out scoring Bluffton 16-2 to take a 25-18 lead in to the half.

The Lady Norse would extend their lead in the third quarter, out scoring Bluffton 10-7 and leading 35-25. As most home teams do Bluffton tried to make a come back, out scoring Northfield 14-11 in the fourth quarter but defense and free throw shooting sealed the win for the Norse.

Sydney Eltzroth lead Northfield with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. Sidney Reed  10 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Michelle Hendricks had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Morgan Peas had 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Shannon Brown had 2 points and 1 rebound. Ashley Frehse had 1 point and 2 rebounds. Katie Stephan had 1 point, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
