Wabash girls basketball coach Scott Bumgardner was looking for more intensity on both ends of the floor as the season is approaching sectional time. He got it Saturday night at North Miami as the #1 ranked Lady Apaches rolled over the Warriors 85-35.
Wabash took off quick and never looked back, taking a 24-6 first quarter lead and a 49-14 half time lead. Kaleigh Hensley had 20 points at the half and Kelsey Cromer had 19. Cromer ended both quarters with last second shots, hitting a two with 3 seconds left in the first and a three at the buzzer to end the half.
The Lady Apaches would continue the pressure in the third quarter, out scoring North Miami 25-13 to lead 74-27. Wabash would call off the dogs in the fourth quarter, but still won the quarter 11-8.
Kaleigh Hensley lead Wabash with 36 points. Kelsey Cromer had 19, Gabi Nearing 14, Marin Hill 8, Lyndsie Thomas 6 and Kyleigh Hampton 2.
Wabash shot 43% from the field, including 7 three pointers. The Lady Apaches were 14-18 from the free throw line for 73%. Wabash out rebounded North Miami 50-26. The Lady Apaches committed 14 turn overs and forced 26. Wabash scored 39 points off turn overs.
The JV was defeated by North Miami 34-23.
Charlie Pardo lead Wabash with 12 points. Katelyn Vogel was next with 6.
