Southwood took off quick with their offense hitting on all cylinders to take a 22-8 lead after the first quarter. North Miami chipped away in the second quarter and was fouled at the buzzer on a three point attempt, hitting two of the free throws to make it 36-25 at the half.
In the third quarter the Warriors had cut it a couple more points to trail 47-38 after three and had it in single digits in the fourth quarter before Southwood gathered themselves to build the lead back to the 12 point final.
Leading Southwood was Mike Cook with 17 points and 8 assist. Levi Winget had 14, Collin Huston 13, Connor Hobbs and Codie Shafer 8, Dalton Gentry 5 and Devin Dale 2. Hobbs had 10 rebounds. Gentry had 4 sreals.
The Knights shot 48% from the field, including 7 three pointers, 80% from the free throw line. Southwood had 27 rebounds, 10 turn overs and scored 23 points off turn overs.
The JV topped North Miami, 54 – 28. Shane Smith led the JV with 14 points; Corey Phillipy had 12 points and 8 rebounds; Jackson Blair had 8 points and Levi Sutton added 6 points and 3 steals. Ross Phillipy had 7 assists.
The ”C” team defeated North Miami, 46 – 25. Nick Krieg paced the 8 and 8 “C” team with 20 points and 5 steals; Jordan Boyer had 6 points and 6 rebounds and Johnny Mendez had 5 points and 5 steals. Zach Hobson had 4 assists in the contest
