Wabash Defeats Northfield In Game One Of Sectional

The Wabash Lady Apaches wasted no time showing why they are the favorite to win the Northfield sectional by defeating the Lady Norse in game one of the sectional 57-22.

Wabash started the game with a 9-0 run before Northfield’s Sidney Reed hit a free throw to stop the run. The Lady Apaches would then go on another run, this time a 10-0 run to build the lead to 19-1 before Reed hit her second free throw of the quarter. Sydney Eltzroth would hit one more free throw for Northfield before the end of the quarter to make the score 19-3 after one. Kaleigh Hensley lead Wabash in the quarter with 12 points. Northfield was held without a field goal in the quarter.

Reed would hit a three pointer to start the second quarter before Hensley would score the next 9 points for Wabash. Northfield would hit a couple free throws before Kyleigh Hampton would drain a three pointer at the buzzer for Wabash to make it 31-9 at the half.

Wabash would out score Northfield 20-7 in the third quarter, again with another run. This time it was a 9-0 run to end the quarter and take a 51-16 lead going to the final quarter. Hensley had another 12 point quarter to give her 33 points for the game. Reed lead Northfield with 3 points.

The two teams played to a 6-6 tie the final quarter. Hampton had 4 points for Wabash and Reed had 3 points for Northfield.

Leading Wabash was Kaleigh Hensley with 33 points. Kyleigh Hampton had 14, Kelsey Cromer 8 and Lyndsie Thomas 2.

For Northfield Sidney Reed had 12 points. Michelle Hendricks and Morgan Peas had 3, Shannon Brown had 2 and Ashley Frehse and Sydney Eltzroth had 1 each.
