The basketball was in the air more than on the floor at Coolman gym Tuesday night in the Apaches win over Eastern. The Apaches put four players in double figures and nine in the scoring column as they beat Eastern 95-86.
In the high scoring affair Wabash out scored Eastern 19-15 in the first quarter, then got out scored 20-12 in the second for a 35-31 Eastern half time lead.
That was the slow half. Things went crazy in the second half and it got so hot in the fourth quarter the fire department was on standby. Wabash won the third quarter 26-21 to take a 57-56 going in to the fourth where they put up 38 points, while Eastern scored 30.
In a game as high scoring and fast paced as it was the Apaches only committed 12 turn overs, while shooting 56% from two point land and only connecting on two three pointers. The Apaches shot 61% from the free throw line.
Leading Wabash was Alex Hentgen and Shea Beauchamp with 21 points each. Hentgen had 10 rebounds, 2 assist and 2 steals. Beauchamp had 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 1 block. Zack Hipskind had 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assist and 6 steals. Breyton Nealis had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assist and 3 steals. Tyler King had 7 points and 2 assist. Andrew Adamson had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. Nate Price had 5 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Travis Shears had 4 points and 3 rebounds. Matt Henderson had 2 points and 1 rebound.
