It was opening night of the girls RRC tournament and Southwood’s Lady Knights were visiting the Wabash Lady Apaches. In 7th grade action the Lady Apaches won a tight played game 19-14, that was only a two point game with 34 seconds to play.
It was a game that was not decided until the final few seconds. The two teams were tied at 4 after one and Southwood lead 6-5 at the half.
It was knotted at 12 after three quarters. In the fourth quarter it was all tied at 14 and Wabash secured the game at the free throw line. Kristin Cromer hit one free throw to make it 15-14 with 2:54 to play. In the final minute Southwood was forced to foul. Cailey Beauchamp hit one free thow with 34.1 to make it 16-14. Cromer and Beauchamp would hit three more in the last 15.7 seconds to secure the win.
Leading Wabash was Kristin Cromer with 11 points. Kierston Cole had 4, Cailey Beauchamp and Sydni Mullet had 2 each.
For Southwood Anna Rees, Emily Harnish and Kelly Schmidt had 4 points each. Danielle Pegg had 2.
