Squires Explode On Peru

The Manchester baseball team’s offense exploded on Peru Tuesday, scoring 17 runs in a five inning 17-5 win.

Logan Brunn was on the mound and after stopping Peru in the 1st the Squire offense wasted no time in separating themselves from the opposition. Manchester scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st and 7 more in the 2nd to lead 10-0 after two. Caleb Thomas capped off the 2nd with a 3 run home run to put the Squires in full control.

Peru would try to claw their way back in to the game, scoring 5 runs in the top of the 3rd. The Squire offense cooled down a little, not scoring in the 3rd or 4th innings. Brunn was back on his game after the shaky 3rd and held the Tigers in check, not letting them score in the 4th.

Manchester would erupt again in the 5th, scoring 7 times. Jim Sainsbury pitched the last inning, holding Peru scoreless and the Squires got the win they needed before Thursday’s sectional.

Logan Brunn had 1 hit and 1 rbi. Devin Knecht had 3 hits. Connor McLaughlin had 3 hits with an rbi. Payton Sorg and Scott Baker had 2 hits and 4 rbi’s. Caleb Thomas had a 3 run home run. Austin Flack had 1 hit.

Logan Brunn got the win on the mound, going 4 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, walking 3 and striking out 8.

Jim Sainsbury went 1 inning, giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
