The Wabash players and coaching staff were determined that this would be the year the Apaches started to turn things around and boy did they start with a boom. The Apaches came out and scored on their first possesion and never looked back in a 37-0 rout of Peru Friday night.
The offense and defense was clicking. Quarterback Nate Price threw for 4 touch downs and 300 yards. Three of those TD’s were to Chris Reed and the other a 57 yard strike to Jarod Hall. The Apaches also rushed for 150 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball the Apaches held Peru to just 90 total yards. The shut out was the first for Wabash in 61 games, dating back to 2004 when they defeated Northfield 12-0.
Coach McWirt quoted ” We are very excited. The kids did everything we ask of them and more. We will celebrate tonight and then start getting ready for Alexandria next week.”
