Knight Cross Country Starts Off With A Win

The Southwood cross country teams got off to an excellent start in last night’s duel meet against host Southern Wells.  Ellie White, Josiah Friedersdorf, Haley Heath, & Johnny Mendez lead the way with victories in each of their respective races.

 The girls’ Jr. High team lost a close one to Southern Wells 26 to 29.  Ellie White was first covering the 3k course in 13:26.  Taylor Heath finished 3rd, Kassidy Atwood 6th, Dayna Dale 9th, and Brooke Wyatt 10th to round out the scoring for the Lady Knights.

 There were no team scores for the Jr. High Boys, but they did sweep the first four places.  Josiah Friedersdorf was 1st in a personal best time of 11:51, Jonathan Collins 2nd in a personal best time of 13:02, Kolten Kersey 3rd, and Drew Hileman 4th.

 The High School girls defeated Southern Wells 28 to 30.  Haley Heath was first in 21:50, Emily Lehner 2nd, Lisa Schmalzried 3rd, Meranda Friend 10th, and Danielle Perlich 12th to round out the scoring for the Lady Knights.

 The High School boys ran away from Southern Wells winning the meet by a near perfect score 17 to 41.  Johnny Mendez finished 1st, covering the 5k course in 17:35.  Grant Keaffaber was 2nd, Samuel Woodling 3rd, Michael Bowman 5th, and Zach Hobson 6th to round out the scoring for the Knights.
