The Wabash Lady Apache varsity volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-19 sweep of Oak Hill Tuesday evening in their first home match.
In game one Wabash took a quick 6-2 lead with the aid of two aces from Kelsie Thomas. The lead would stay at four points until Oak Hill mounted a 7 point run to take a 16-15 lead. An ace from Kelsey Cromer and a dink from Marin Hill put the Lady Apaches back up 20-18 and another ace from Kelsie Thomas down the stretch led Wabash to a game one 25-21 win.
In game two Wabash took off to a 9-1 lead. Kelsie Thomas and Brittany Stone started the scoring with a double block and then Thomas took over. Kelsie had 2 kills and tip during the run, with two aces coming from Brittany Stone. The Lady Apaches would build the lead to 17-5 before Oak Hill would go on a small run to make it 17-10. Wabash would out score Oak Hill 8-6 down the stretch with a kill from Thomas and a tip to the corner by Cromer to win 25-16.
Kelsey Cromer would start game three with two aces and Wabash went up 3-0 before Oak Hill scored three straight to even the score. From 3-3 the score would be tied seven times before Wabash went up for good at 16-15. Kyleigh Hampton gave Wabash a two point lead with a kill that ignited a seven point run by the Lady Apaches to go up 22-15. Hampton had two more kills during the run. The Lady Apaches went on to complete the sweep 25-19.
