Lady Squires Win On Senior Night

The Manchester Lady Squire volleyball team defeated Blackhawk Christian in 4 sets (26-24, 18-25, 25-15, 25-23) Thursday as the Squires said goodbye to their five seniors, Meika Kennedy, Tiffany Clark, Malyssa Bedke, Natalee Cain and Kaylee Watson.  The Squires were led by outstanding defense and serving from seniors Meika Kennedy and Malyssa Bedke, both taking over different sets with their serving. Kennedy bringing the Squires the win in set four trailing 20-23. Kennedy served 3 aces and 2 serves keeping Blackhawk out of system to end the set and match. Malyssa Bedke had 19 service points for the Squires.  Offensively the Squires were led by Tiffany Clark and Natalee Cain followed by Junior Autumn Brewer.  The Squires end their regular season 21-11 and 4-3 in TRC.  Manchester will face off against the Lady Knights of Southwood in Thursday’s second round sectional game hosted by North Miami, beginning at 6 pm.  Meika Kennedy set a new school record in digs per match with 40, breaking her own record school record of 36 digs per match.

Tiffany Clark had 15 kills, 2 aces, 16 digs and 5 service points

Meika Kennedy had 3 kills, 5 aces, 40 digs and 9 service points

Natalee Cain had 6 kills, 5 digs, 1 block and 5 service points

Sydney Snep had 3 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs, 2 blocks and 3 service points

Autumn Brewer had 5 kills and 1 block

Malyssa Bedke had 1 kill, 26 assist, 4 aces, 18 digs and 19 service points

Katie Peden had 2 kills, 1 dig and 1 block

Bekah Brunn had 1 assist, 4 digs and 1 block

Kaylee Watson had 14 digs and 4 service points

Morgan Metzger had 1 dig
