The Northfield varsity volleyball team won the Marion Invite Saturday defeating all competitors in two games.The Lady Norse defeated Marion 25-12, 25-11, Jay County 25-9, 25-21 and Eastbrook 25-20, 27-25.
Bayli Birk set up 78 assists on the day. Kylie Echard hit 34 kills off of Birk and Haley Walchle picked up 28 kills. Tori Snyder picked up 9 kills as well with Elaina Terrell and Kendal Reed both having 5 each. Birk also added 4 kills and Gentry Kline had 3 on the day. Kline also had 56 digs and pushed up 39 good receptions. Reed and Shafer each added 38 and 23 digs respectively and 23 good receptions each. Echard added 3 solo blocks as well. Birk picked up 28 digs as well and Arie Kennedy grabbed 9 digs. On our Serving game, Birk and Shafer each had 3 aces. Reed had 5 aces, and Terrell, Walchle, and Amber Parker each added 2 aces each. And Bethany Azbell ended game 2 of Eastbrook with an ace.
The junior varsity won two of three games. The lady Norse lost to Eastbrook 17-25, 19-25, defeated Marion 25-22, 25-21 and Jay County 17-25, 25-24, 15-11.
Marlee Stefanatos led the defense with 51 good receptions and 22 digs. Holly Dyson added 24 digs, 7 aces, and 13 kills. Cassidy Miller had 19 kills on the day. Shelby Donaldson grabbed 29 digs, set up 20 assists, and had 5 aces. Ciara Ritchie set up 25 assists, 28 digs, and served for 5 aces. Kaelyn Short added 10 kills and Donaldson added 6 as well. Katelyn Gribben and Hayley Brantley each had 3 aces as well.
