The Northfield ”C” football team won their final game of the year with a 28-0 win over Triton Monday.
The score was tied at zero after the first quarter before the Norse broke loose in the second. Shane Vigar intercepted a Triton pass on the 10yl and ran it in for a touchdown with 7:23 to go to make it 6-0. On the next Triton possession, Jon Richardson intercepted a pass, running it back to the Triton 18 and with a horse collar call the Norse had the ball on the 9. The Norse pulled out their bag of tricks, pitching the ball to Carter Frieden who connected with Vigar in the endzone with 5:37 left to make it 12-0. The Norse missed the extra point, but their was a Triton penalty so the Norse decided to go for two. Alec Wells ran it in and Northfield led 14-0. Not being satisfied the Norse defense held and the offense went to work one more time before the half with Vigar connecting with Frieden with 2.2 seconds remaining to go up 21-0 at the half.
In the third quarter Triton was driving in Northfield territory when Josh Bickel stripped the ball from the runner and ran it back to the 13. Northfield moved the ball to the 5, but could not convert a score, giving the ball back to Triton. Neither team could strike pay dirt in the quarter and it remained 21-0 with a quarter to go.
In the fourth quarter the second strip of the ball came, this time by Alec Wells, running it back 30 yards to the Triton 35, with Triton getting called for their second horse collar call, moving the ball to the 20. On the insuing drive Wells runs it in from 11 yards out with 5:10 to go, making it 28-0 which was the final score.
