The Northfield football team needed a win in their opening round sectional game to guarantee their first winning season since 1980. Not only did the Norse accomplish their mission, they did it in convincing fashion, rolling over LaVille 47-6.
The Wells brothers, Hunter and Alec combined for 5 touchdowns to lead the potent Norse ground attack.
Two touchdowns from Hunter Wells, a 31yd reception and a 24yd run and one from Austin Curless, a 3yd run and the Norse led 19-6 at the half.
The Norse offense would stay clicking and the defense dominated in the second half. With 9:56 to go in the third, Wells took in his third TD of the night from 16yds out and with an Andy Roser kick it was 26-6. Wells would strike again from 34tds with 2:55 remaining and the extra kick made it 33-6 with a quarter to go.
In the fourth quarter, Jared Kirtlan would pick up a fumble and race 34yds for a touchdown with 8:50 to go, again with the Roser kick to make it 40-6. Late in the game Wells, this time Alec would would strike for the Norse one more time from 25yds, making it a 47-6 final.
Hunter Wells had 159yds rushing on 11 carries. Andy Roser had 65yds on 10 carries. Curless was 3 of 11 for 58yds. Wells caught 2 passes for 50yds. Joe Ross led the defense with 10 tackles.
The Norse travel to North Miami next Friday for round two of the sectional
