The Northfield boys basketball team traveled to Southern Wells Tuesday and in a game of two different halves cruised past the Raiders 70-42.
With a combination of turn overs and forced shots the Norse struggled in the first quarter, trailing 17-13 after one.
The defense would control the tempo in the second quarter for the Norse, holding Southern Wells to just 6 points while scoring 14 and led 27-23 at the half. Ryan Keaffaber led the Norse in the first half with 17 points.
After a halftime briefing, the Norse came out of the locker room with a little more focus. Ryan Keaffaber and Chad Galsscock hit to increase the lead to 8 at 31-23. After a Raider bucket Northfield went on an 11-0 run to end the quarter and led 42-25. During the run the Norse got buckets from Glasscock, Ryan Givens and Houston Miller.
The Norse would explode for 28 points in the fourth quarter, out scoring the Raiders 28-17. A host of Norse scored in the quarter as they ended the game on a 9-0 run to win 70-42.
Leading Northfield was Ryan Keaffaber with 29 points and 5 steals. Chad Glasscock had 20 points and 4 steals. Dustin Echard had 7 points and 7 rebounds. Ryan Givens had 6 points. Ethan Stouffer, Houston Miller and Adam Roser had 2 points each. Cody Gibson and Jon Richardson had 1 point each.
The Norse also won the JV game, topping the Raiders 43-32.
