The Wabash Apache boys basketball team used a 27 point fourth quarter rally to come back and defeat Northfield Friday night, 57-54.
After a sluggish start when both teams had a hard time finding the bucket in the first quarter, the Apaches led just 9-4. Wabash would still struggle in the second quarter as the Norse defense held Wabash to just 6 points while scoring 14 and led Wabash 18-15 in a low scoring first half.
Northfield would find their offensive rhythm in the third quarter, busting loose for 24 points while holding Wabash to 15 and took control of the game, leading 42-30 with one quarter to go.
Going in to the fourth quarter down 12 points, the bomb brigade took over for Wabash with instant offense from Tyler Brewer and Andrew Adamson. The Apaches, after giving up 24 points in the third quarter reversed the momentum by scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter, while playing the fouling game against the Norse, forcing them to the free throw line and allowing just 12 points. Northfield could not hold off the Apaches as Wabash come from behind for the 57-54 win.
Leading Wabash was Tyler Brewer with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Andrew Adamson and Shea Beauchamp had 11 points each. Adamson had 1 rebound and 1 assist. Beauchamp had 2 rebounds. Breyton Nealis had 7 points, 1 rebound, 3 assist and 1 steal. Nate Price had 6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals and 1 block. Landon Cole had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
For Northfield Ryan Keaffaber had 16 points and 6 rebounds. Chad Glasscock had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assist. Collin Dawes had 10 points and 3 steals. Ryan Givens had 8 points and 5 rebounds.
Northfield won the JV contest 39-36.
