The Manchester boys basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to pick up their second win of the year, a 43-33 win over Lakeview Christian Tuesday.
The Squires could only find the bucket three times in the first quarter, two by Noah Johnson, but used strong defense and held Lakeview to just three and it was tied at 6 after one.
Manchester would open a small gap in the second quarter, out scoring Lakeview 13-9. Logan Brunn led the way with 7 points, hitting 5 of 6 free throws. The Squires led 19-15 at the half.
The lid on the bucket closed again in the third quarter, with Manchester connecting just three times, one a three pointer by Connor McLaughlin as the Squires were out scored 8-7 and led 26-23 with a quarter to go.
The Squires would use a strong fourth quarter, especially from the free throw line to secure the win. Manchester hit 9 of 13 free throws and scored 17 points, while holding Lakeview to 10 for the 43-33 win.
Logan Brunn led the way with 14 points. Derek Self had 8, Noah Johnson 6, Pheonix Goad 4, Caleb Thomas, Clayton Petrie and Connor McLaughlin 3 each, Grant Schuler 2.
Coach Thompson ” An ugly win is better than a pretty loss. We’ll take it and move on to TRC foe North Miami on Friday.”
The junior varsity ran away from Lakeview, winning 39-6.
