MOSS SCORES CAREER 1,000TH POINT AS MANCHESTER DEFEATS EARLHAM 62-48

Manchester College senior guard Jordan Moss (Columbia City, Ind./Columbia City) became the 28th Spartan in school history to join the 1,000 club as he scored 27 points and added 17 rebounds in Manchester’s 62-48 win over conference opponent Earlham on Saturday.

Manchester opened the first half with a 22-11 lead and settled for a 33-25 lead at the break. Manchester held the Quakers to 32 percent shooting in the first half and 28 percent in the second half as Earlham committed just four turnovers and the Spartans just eight in the game.

Moss reached his 1,000th point on a pair of made free throws in the second half and ended the game with 27 points on 10-18 shooting. He notched 17 rebounds and had an assist. Greg Flores added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Jason Spindler had a game-high 10 rebounds to go with his three blocked shots.

Manchester improves to 4-9 on the year, 2-4 in the HCAC. They will host Defiance on Wednesday.

 

Women’s Basketball
MEIKLEJOHN SCORES 19 AS MC DEFEATS EARLHAM 68-41 (box attached as 12wbearl.htm)

Manchester’s women’s basketball team opened Saturday’s contest against Earlham with a 22-0 run over the first 10 minutes of play and held on to take a 34-10 lead at the half, holding Earlham to just 12 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.

Erynn Meiklejohn (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia)  led all scorers with 19 points, hitting 8-13 from the floor and added five rebounds and a blocked shot. Kailey Honn scored 13 points on 6-11 shooting to go with her six rebounds, three steals, blocked shot and assist.

Manchester improves to 9-4 on the year, 5-1 in the HCAC and remains locked in a tie for second place in the conference standings. MC will travel to Defiance on Wednesday night and will face league-leading Franklin at Franklin on Saturday.
