THREE SPARTANS SCORE OVER 20 AS MC DEFEATS MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 72-63
Manchester’s men’s team posted a 72-63 win over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday as three Spartans posted 20 or more points in the win. Manchester came out in the second half, trailing 27-23 at the break, and shot 71 percent from the floor in the second half to pick up the 72-63 win.
Jason Spindler led all scorers with 24 points, hitting 10-13 from the floor and 4-7 free throws. He added 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot. Greg Flores added 21 points, hitting 8-10 from the floor and 5-6 from behind the arc. He added six rebounds, three steals and an assist. Jordan Moss also scored 21 points, hitting 7-14 of his attempts and 7-10 free throws. He added four rebounds, six assist and a steal. Moss moves into 24th place in all-time scoring with 1,080 points, and looks to close in on Rickey Miller’s 1,083 and Bill Dodd’s 1,089 points Wednesday against Rose-Hulman.
Manchester improves to 7-10 in the year, 5-5 in the conference and will face Rose-Hulman at home on Wednesday, starting at 7:30 p.m.

1.21.12 – MC POSTS 62-49 WIN OVER MOUNT ST. JOSEPH
Manchester’s women’s basketball team picked up a 62-49 win over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, as both teams started the second-half of the conference season. Manchester went up by as many as 11 points late in the first half and settled for a 34-25 halftime lead. MC held MSJ to 24 percent shooting in the second half to pick up the 62-49 victory.
Erynn Meiklejohn led all scorers with 17 points, hitting 6-10 from the floor and 5-7 free throws. She also had four rebounds, two assiss and a steal. Abby Lang added 11 points on 3-5 shooting from the floor and 4-6 free throws to go with her five rebounds and two steals. Alex Starkey scored eight points, had three assists, three blocked shots and two steals, while Abby Schweitzer netted 10 points and six rebounds on 4-5 shooting.
Manchester improves to 12-5 on the year, 8-2 in the HCAC. They will return to action Wednesday at Rose-Hulman for a 7:30 p.m. start.
