The Northfield boys basketball team put their 13 game winning streak on the line Tuesday, traveling to Bunker Hill to take on Maconaquah. In what was a ”chippy game” the Norse pulled out their 14th straight win with a 58-54 win over the Braves.

The Norse got off to a fast start and behind 9 first quarter points from Collin Dawes the Norse led 19-9.

The Braves reversed the momentum in the second quarter, out scoring the Norse 16-8 and the Northfield led just 27-25. Collin Dawes had 11 points at the half.

Maconaquah cut the lead to two early in the fourth, but went on a fouling spree, putting the Norse on the line on three consecutive trip and calling time out with 5:07 to and Dawes on the line, leading 51-44.  At 53-48 and 3:11 to go the game slowed down to a snails pace, with fouls and turn overs dictating the tempo. Dawes drained both free throws and the Norse led by ten, 58-48. With the game getting out of control, the Braves scored 6 points in the last 24 seconds, but the Norse survived 58-54.
