The Wabash boys basketball team was winding up their regular season on the road at Elwood Friday. The Apaches were out scored by 11 points in the second quarter and lost to the Panthers by ten, 63-53.
The Apaches got off to a good start, jumping on the Panthers to take a 14-10 lead after the first quarter, when the disastrous second quarter came. Wabash couldn’t buy a bucket as Elwood came charging back to out score Wabash 18-7 to take a 28-21 lead over Wabash at the half.
Wabash regrouped at the half as their offense found some life, out scoring Elwood 18-17 in the third and trailed 45-39 with a quarter to go and in striking distance.
Wabash would again go cold from the field, especially from behind the arch where they were just 6 of 22 for the night and couldn’t keep pace with the Panthers, being out scored 18-14 in the final quarter to fall 63-53.
Leading Wabash was Shea Beauchamp with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Tyler Brewer had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assist. Andrew Adamson had 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assist and 1 steal. Landon Cole had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Travis Shears had 6 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks. Nate Price had 6 points, 1 rebound, 3 assist and 1 steal. Tyler King had 3 points and 1 rebound. Breyton Nealis had 2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assist and 1 steal. Jacob Ellis had 1 rebound and 1 assist.
The Wabash JV defeated Elwood 51-32.
Leading Wabash was Grant Sailors with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Jordan Blair had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Christian Hall had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 assist.
The junior varsity finished their season 11-9.
