Knights Fall To #10 Bluffton

The Southwood boys basketball team traveled to #10 Bluffton Friday for their final regular season game. The Knights gave the Tigers a run, but fell to the host 61-47.

The Knights, who had lost Dalton Gentry and Grant Keaffaber earlier due to injuries were glad to see Keaffaber back in the lineup, but had lost the services of Jackson Blair with an injury. With injuries hampering the Knights all year, they gathered the troops and even though they lost the game, gained some confidense heading to next week’s sectional.

Bluffton would pound the ball inside to their superior height and led the Knights 15-8 after one and 33-22 at the half. Battling against an inside line of 6’5” to 6’11”  the Knights kept themselves in striking distance.

Bluffton came out with the same game plan in the third and the height was just to much for the Knights with the Tigers winning the quarter 20-13 before the Knights would cut the gap to the final margin in the fourth by out scoring the Tigers 12-8.

Leading Southwood was Connor Hobbs with 14 points. Corey Phillipy had 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Levi Winget had 9 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assist and 5 steals. Ross Phillipy had 4 points. Shane Smith had 4 rebounds. Grant Keaffaber had 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Levi Sutton had 3 assist.

The junior varsity lost to Bluffton 41-39.

Leading the Knights was Nick Krieg with 23 points. Brett Wyatt had 4 points and 6 rebounds. Zach Hobson had 3 points and 3 assist. Luke Elliott had 3 points and 2 steals. Noah Kirk had 3 rebounds. Danny Goff had 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Jacob Lloyd had 2 steals.
