Manchester’s baseball team picked up a 9-3 win over Defiance on Monday, playing on Fort Wayne’s Parkview Field. Manchester scored one run in the third and fifth innings, and picked up three runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh and eighth innings to pick up the 9-3 victory.
Justin Scott picked up the win for Manchester, throwing seven innings with seven strikeouts and three hits allowed with no runs scored. Sean Liedtky added one inning of relief pitching and Temujin Sery closed out the ninth inning with one run, one hit and one strikeout.
Brad Murphy led the way with a 4-5 performance and scored three runs. Jordan Nieman went 3-4 with two RBIs and a double. Bryce Murphy and Corey Marchant went 2-5, with Murphy adding two runs and an RBI and Marchant one RBI.
Manchester improves to 14-12 on the year, 6-5 in the HCAC. They will travel to Mount St. Joseph for a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
