Lady Knights Win Marathon Over Peru

The Southwood Lady Knight softball team evened their record at 3-3, winning a 12-11 marathon over Peru Wednesday.

Neither team scored the first two innings before things changed. Peru plated a run in the top of the third that was answered with three runs by the Knights.

Peru would score one in the fourth and Southwood rallied with two and led 5-2 after four.

Both teams would score two runs in the fifth to set up the thrilling ending. With the Knights leading 7-4, Peru erupted for seven runs in the sixth to take an 11-7 lead. Southwood answered with four runs and the game was tied at 11 after six innings.

Southwood shut down Peru in the top of the seventh and in the bottom with two outs and the bases loaded, Courtney Simpson singled home the winning run.

Jenny Bentley had a three run home run.

In another marathon, the jv played to a 19-19 tie at Taylor.

Both teams scored in every inning but one.
