Lady Knights Split At Taylor Invite

The Southwood softball team split a pair of games at the Taylor Invitational Saturday. The Lady Knights lost a tough 8 inning game to Clinton Central in game one 5-1 and then came back to defeat Caston 26-1.

In game one Southwood led 1-0 until the 4th inning when Clinton Central knotted the score and eventually went to extra innings. Clinton Central scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th and then held the Knights for the win.

Jenny Bentley took the loss on the mound, striking out 14, walking 3, hitting 1 batter and allowing 5 runs(4E).

Offensively Jordan Randolph and Logan Hensley were 1 for 3. Jenny Bentley and Courtney Simpson were 1 for 4.

 

In game two the Lady Knights took out their frustration from game one on Caston, scoring in all five innings for a 26-1 win.

Southwood scored 10 runs in the first, 7 runs in the second and 3 runs in the third, fourth and fifth.
