Norse Junior High Track Takes Three Of Four From North Miami

The Norse junior high track team put on a strong display against North Miami on Monday night. The 7th grade girls team defeated the Warriors with help from first place finishes by Jacklyn Peas in the 100 and 200 hurdles and the 200 meter dash. Also placing first for the Norse were Catherine Tracy in the mile, Tori Givens in the 800 and Jordan Bratch in high jump. Both 7th grade girls relay teams placed first.

The 8th grade NHS girls lost to North Miami in spite of first place finishes by Liz Howenstein in the 100 hurdles and 400 meter run and Sarah Driscoll in discus. The 8th grade girls 4 x 100 relay team also placed first.

The 7th and 8th grade boys’ teams both defeated North Miami. Gathering firsts for the boys were Jackson Beery in the 100, 200, and 400; Chris Orpurt in shot and discus; Keegan Knepp in the mile; Kyle Reed in the 200 hurdles and long jump; Joe Halderman in the 800; Matt Coe in high jump; Logan Carey in 110 hurdles and high jump; Noah Augustus in the mile and 800; Jake Stephen in shot and discus; and Matt Carey in the 400. The 7th grade boys’ 4 x 100 relay team scored a first as well.

7th grade girls: NHS 74.5; NM 30.5

8th grade girls: NM 47; NHS 37

7th grade boys: NHS 66; NM 29

8th grade boys: NHS 50; NM 37
