SPARTANS GET MUST WIN TO ADVANCE TO HCAC TOURNAMENT FOLLOWING 3-1 WIN OVER TRANSY

Manchester’s baseball team picked up a 3-1 win over Transylvania to claim the fourth and final spot in the 2012 HCAC Tournament, eliminating Transylvania from tournament play.

 

Kyle Konarski picked up the win for Manchester, throwing a complete nine innings and notching eight strikeouts on the day, and held Transy to just four hits on the afternoon.

 

Corey Marchant went 3-5 with a run batted in to led Manchester, while Trevor Kimm went 2-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Austin Rieke went 3-3 on the day with a double and a triple.

 

Manchester improves to 22-18, 14-11 in the HCAC. They will face top-seeded Rose-Hulman at Rose-Hulman starting Thursday for the first round of the conference championships.
