The Manchester baseball team took a 2-0 lead, but couldn’t hold on, falling to Whitko 6-3 Wednesday.
The Squires plated a run in the first. Logan Brunn led off with a single and was moved over with ground balls by Caleb Thomas and Connor McLaughlin. Jurgin Cripe then singled home Brunn to take a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth Payton Sorg reached on a fielders choice and then scored on two Whitko errors to give Manchester a 2-0 lead. Whitko would respond with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.
Whitko would tack on two more runs in the fifth on three hits and led the Squires 5-2.
The Squires manufactured a run in the sixth. Cripe was hit by a pitch and eventually drove home on a grounder by Justin Lewis. Whitko would score their final run in the bottom of the inning for the 6-3 win.
Logan Brunn and Jurgin Cripe had two hits each. Cripe had an rbi. Justin Lewis had an rbi.
Logan Brunn took the loss on the mound.
