If there was ever a pitchers dual it happened at Manchester Monday night. The Squires lost a tough 3-0 decision to Tippecanoe Valley where both pitchers had a no hitter after five innings.
Connor McLaughlin and James Hackworth battled it out for five innings, both dominating. McLaughlin struck out 12 in the game, while Hackworth struck out 17.
With no score heading for the sixth, Valley’s Jacob Ritchey drew a walk after a McLaughlin strike out. Hackworth would then reach on an error to put two runners on. McLaughlin would strike out the next batter for the second out. Brodi Andrews then broke the no hitter and the 0-0 tie with a three run homer to put Valley up 3-0.
Hackworth would then strike out four of the last six Squire batters to seal the no hitter and a Valley win 3-0.
