The Northfield varsity baseball team defeated North Miami 5-1 Wednesday to improve to 20-4 and finish 7-0 in the conference. Andy Roser got the win on the mound and had 2 hits. Austin Keen and Tanner Chamberlain also had 2 hits.

Joseph Ross started the second with a single to left. Austin Keen then singled, moving Ross to 3rd. Tanner Wilcox hit in to a rbi fielder’s choice, with Keen out at 2nd and Ross scores (1-0). Wilcox would steal 2nd and move to 3rd on the catchers bad throw. Ethan Stouffer sac-fly to left, Wilcox scores (2-0).
In the third, Andy Roser hit an rbi double to score Tanner Chamberlain who had singled (3-0).
In the fourth, Ethan Stouffer converted a safety squeeze scoring pinch runner Cody Smalley who ran for Austin Keen after singling. Smalley got in to scoring position by stealing 2nd and went to 3rd on a bad throw, (4-0).
The Norse scored one more in the sixth. Tanner Wilcox scored on Adam Roser’s grounder that got through the fielder’s legs (5-0).
North Miami picked up a run in the seventh on two singles and a wild pitch.

Uggen: “We had several chances to blow this game open but couldn’t get a big 2 out hit. Andy (Roser) pitched pretty well for us though, so I was glad to see that. We did a nice job manufacturing a few runs so there were some positives.”
