Lady Squires Win Thriller

The Manchester girls softball team won a 10-9 battle with Oak Hill Thursday in thrilling fashion.

Oak Hill would jump out to a 4-0 lead heading to the bottom of the 3rd before the Manchester bats come to life. The Lady Squires responded with 5 runs to take a 5-4 lead.

The Lady Squires would tack on another run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to double up on the Lady Eagles 8-4 with an inning to go.

Oak Hill would rally in the top of the seventh, plating 5 runs to knot the score at 8 and set up the thrilling finish. Kalene Freshour hit a 2 out triple and then scored the winning run with some heads up base running to finish her night with 3 hits and 4 runs scored.

The Squires pounded out 12 hits for the game. Freshour had a triple and Hannah Little a double.

Todd Volk: Kalene Freshour had a 2 out triple and scoring the winning run on the hit with some heads up baserunning to finish her 3 hit 4 runs scored evening. The whole team responded well to some early adversity and some late inning
herorics by Oak Hill. These were the type of games we were losing early in the season. Our girls are playing their best ball at the right time. Another tough match-up tommorrow night with Winamac and then on to sectional.
